Konstantino Miciu Nicolaevici brought his family to Argentina in 1949. Despite the pains of war he had experienced in Europe, he carried an unbreakable faith. Thanks to this and to his artistic and academic education, he pursued his career into what would become its Latin American stage. And on this territory, his descendents would grow.
Konstantino painted and raised his sons, Demetrio and Georg who, in turn, had their own families, bringing up some artists among their children.
In 2006, “Three Generations Miciu Nicolaevici” opened at the National Museum of Decorative Art in Buenos Aires, and the book “Georg” was published, telling the story of the younger brother’s artistic journey. These events gave Jorge Bonzano, Georg’s artistic representative at the time, the idea to give “context”, to create a “framework” for the works of these three generations of artists of excellence. Jorge and Georg, embarked then in the project of making Colección Georg come to life.
After five years of investment and effort, Colección Georg opened to the public. It features the works of several members of the Miciu family, accompanied by a collection of works by other Patagonian artists whose paintings, photography and sculptures share similar characteristics.
This Art Space is directed towards anyone who appreciates beauty and kindness.
Born in 1907 in Akerman, Moldavia, he began his artistic career while living in Bessarabia. The Danube River inspired the waves he painted with notable loyalty. He continued to develop artistically while living in Bucharest, Romania, and later graduated from the Vienna School of Fine Art.
The fateful events of the Second World War left a mark on Konstantino, his wife Alexandra, and their sons Demetrio and Georg, propelling them on a journey of hurdles and relocations. In 1949, Konstantino and family arrived in Buenos Aires, where the artist would complete the majority of his work. During his career, Konstantino lived in San Isidro, Bariloche, Mendoza, in the rural countryside of Buenos Aires, eventually settling in the Sierras of Córdoba where he lived until his death, in 1992. Konstantino’s work is best known for his unmistakable seascapes. Through his words and examples, Konstantino encouraged the artistic development of his sons.
